| Posh Pob Howto: Introduction
credit: ehow.com
Victoria
Beckham, aka Posh Spice, famously had her hair cut by Mr
Cooks, she got rid of her long locks and now sports a sleek and funky bob aptly called, “The Pob.” Although the classic bob is timeless and has been around for many years, Posh Spice has added her unique twist and has totally reinvented the hairstyle. Victoria Beckham’s “Pob” is an angled bob and is graduated at the back of her head with long, textured front layers. The amazing thing about the Pob is that it can be uniquely tailored to suit each woman’s facial features and hair type. In fact, Posh Spice, herself, has tweaked her Pob look several times since she first debuted it. The first version was closer to a classic bob with a sharp angle (short in back and long in front). Now, the back of her head is more of a shag with shorter texturized layers. With a few minor adjustments anyone can look as trendy and chic as Posh Spice. Recently Beckham's BFF Katie Holmes--who has totally different facial features from Posh Spice--modified the Pob to create her own sophisticated
look.

* For those who are wary of cutting long hair, the Pob is a low-maintenance style and will not go through an awkward growing-out stage.
* Depending on the your hair type, ask your stylist about the benefits of cutting with shears or with a razor. Generally, thick and coarse hair is easier to style if the layers are razor cut.
* Do not try the Posh Spice hair at home! Go to a seasoned stylist who is experienced at cutting layers and texturizing hair. You will spend less time styling your hair if you invest in a quality cut by an experienced stylist.
Style Your Hair Like Posh Spice
Things You'll Need:
* Blow dryer
* Round barrel brush
* Mousse, spray-in conditioner, or texturizing cream
* Hair wax or pomade
* Finishing spray or hairspray
Steps
Step One.
Clean your hair with an appropriate product designed for your hair type and
texture.
Step Two.
Towel dry and apply a styling-cream, mousse or spray-in
conditioner.
Step Three.
Blow your hair upside down until it is almost dry. This will give you extra volume and body.
Step Four.
Then, use a round barrel brush and blow dryer to smooth out your hair and to add movement. If you invest in a blow dryer with a brush attachment or nozzle attachment, this step may be easier, as you can simply brush your hair
out.
Step Five.
Complete your look by pinching the ends and edges of your hair with some styling wax or
pomade.
Step Six.
Mist to smooth fly-aways and for general hold. Or, use finishing silicone-based spray to add some shine and luster to your
hair. Tips & Warnings
* If you are concerned that the blow dryer may damage your hair, use a thermal-care product to protect it from the heat.
* Use the hair wax and pomade sparingly, as overuse will weigh down or flatten your hair.
* Use a silicone-based finishing spray to add luster to your hair.
* If you have wavy or curly hair, use a straightening iron or large barrel curling iron to smooth out your waves. Or consider getting a straightening
perm.
* Use a texturizing shampoo and conditioner in the
shower.
* Towel dry your hair and work in a small amount of
anti-frizz balm and a dollop of volumizing mousse
through your hair.
* Using your hair dryer and a round brush, smooth hair
towards your face, boosting more movement in your hair.
* To style a cowlick, try blasting the heat on the
unruly piece of hair first in one direction, then in the
next direction, and after repeating a few times, the
hair should sit the way you want.
* Once dry, use a bit of pomade or wax to spike up the
shorter pieces and seperate longer strands. Use a small
amount and rub between your hands to get the product
soft, warm and pliable.
* When your hair is styled, finish off with a touch of
glossy shine serum and a spritz of finishing spray.
Throughout the day you can touch and fluff up your hair.
* Shorter styles usually require a bit more maintenance
than longer ones. You’ll need to get regular trims
every 4-6 weeks, and keep that color fresh as there is
nowhere for roots to hide.
* You won’t need to wash your hair everyday as
choppier styles usually hold up well with slightly dirty
hair. |
